Situated in the heart of the historic town of Kirkcudbright, South West Scotland, The Commercial Hotel is on the same street as McLellan Castle. It overlooks Soaperie Gardens and the local Parish Church.
Kirkcudbright offers the tourist a wealth of interesting sights and experiences. A busy fishing town, it is also known as the Artist's Town. The Kirkcudbright website, www.kirkcudbright.co.uk, gives extensive information about the town and surrounding area.
The Commercial Hotel is owned by sole proprietor Phyllis Davis. Phyllis has run the Hotel for the last four years but it has been in the Davis family for over forty years. Refurbished and renovated extensively since 2000, the Hotel now offers a friendly, comfortable and affordable place to stay while still retaining all the character of the original Coaching Inn.

A traditional bar, cosy lounge, dining room and new conservatory provide all the needs for the traveller. The food is of a high standard with the emphasis being on traditional cooking with daily homemade specials. Even "Mince and Tatties" and "Rhubarb Crumble with Custard" find their way onto the menu regularly. The size of the "Commercial Portions" are well known in the town. If you are a pensioner, a half portion of the daily specials or a salad is always an option although the sea air will give you an appetite! Local produce and suppliers are used as much as possible.

The rooms are all comfortable with double, single and family rooms available. New En Suite. Some have views onto the Soaperie Gardens. Costing from only £24.00 per night for bed and breakfast including full Scottish Breakfast and there is no single supplement. A homely resident's lounge is also available.

The Hotel is efficiently run by a small and friendly staff. Phyllis along with Eileen do all the cooking for the Hotel. The bar is run by Jill and some seasonal help. Carol-Ann is in charge of looking after the bedrooms.
